If you haven’t checked our Etsy store recently, take a look at our limited edition section - you’ll notice we have something new going on. You can now order a custom limited edition bag made from one of the cars pictured!
We have two Cadillacs, a Mercedes, a Nissan (pictured below), a Jeep, Ford, Lincoln, Volvo and Buick. All of these cars have rare high-quality and embroidered materials in their interior. We can take that upholstery, seat belts, buckles and other embellishments - then combine them with other durable materials like truck tarp and bike tube - to make you an awesome bag in any style you choose.
Help give new life to these beautiful cars! To order, all you have to do is contact us or purchase the listing on etsy, and we can discuss the details of a design.
If you’re still looking to do your holiday shopping, come over and check out some of the new arrivals at our store!
First we have a few handmade leather bags by Dan Fitzgerald, who makes these from his own patterns, each with unique details, clasps and embellishments. They look great and are sure to last their owner a long time.
Annie Clifford has brought in some armwarmers and warm wooly things in great winter colors.
And Embody has some new triangular belt pouches. They’re made from a variety of materials and come with little hoops to go on your belt, so you have a safe place to stash all your things. It’s like having extra pockets!
We’ve been making lots of awesome mini-freyas lately. But now it’s time for some full-size purses. Patricia just finished a run of large Freyas in a whole bunch of different designs and colors. A few of these have been uploaded to Etsy already, so do check them out.
Also check out our new batch of upholstery materials! Can’t wait to turn these into some awesome bags.
Hey! First things first, we have just released a whole new size of Three Speed. These bags are wider than our classic ones, almost a square shape. We’ve done some up with seat belts, bright colors and upholstery. Each one has handy inside compartments for organizing your stuff.
A few of these bags will be staying in the store, but the rest will be sent off to Amsterdam. This is the first time we’ll be selling our bags there, and we hope they’ll be a huge success.
And a few more reminders:
Construction on Roncesvalles is still underway, everything looks like it’s going according to schedule. The tracks have been laid, we’re waiting patiently for the rest of the work to finish.
Embody has a great new line of fall clothes and accessories. But we still have a lot of great summer things, and the summer line is now on sale at 50% off! Come by and take a look (before it gets too cold!)
We’re still offering 10% off at the store when you bring in a non-perishable food donation. All the food will be sent to the High Park Church Food Bank. The drive lasts until the 11th of September.
There’s also some new laptop bags up on Etsy, check them out here.
It’s fall already holy cow. There’s still a lot of construction on Roncey, but it will be over soon. They have laid out the tracks at least. Free Parking where you can find it on the street, and pay parking behind the Howard Park school after 6pm daily, and all weekends and holidays.
SPECIAL: Septmeber 4-11 we are offering 10% off any regular priced item in the store when you bring in a non-perishable food donation for the High Park Church Food Bank.
NEW: We have new things from Embody who rocks on her fall line. Sweaters and cowls, wristies and heavy tank tops, she can’t wait for the heat of summer to wear off. Her summer line is also on sale now.
Hoodies, jackets and t-shirts for men and women from CBE and Modrobes will gear you up for the colder weather. Made in Toronto cotton, and recycled pop bottle fabric with eucalyptus make these feel so nice.
Atelier B has re-invented the cardigan for both men and women. More asymetrical style on organic cotton.
We have wallets! 3 different styles, come in and check them out.
Thanks for supporting us, hope to see you soon! Hours Monday -Saturday 11-8, Sunday 11-4.
Patricia is working on some mini-freyas today! The mini-freya is, as you might have guessed, a smaller version of our Freya purse. These bags are really neat. They have a more feminine shape and include a lot of different materials. Here’s a bunch of them prepared and ready for assembly:
Each bag has a coordinated front and back panel. There’s a handy zipper pocket on the back! I particularly like this bag, made with a lovely piece of floral upholstery and this awesome shiny fabric.
If you liked that, check out some of the other designs and patterns!
They should all be ready real soon, so look out for them in our store!
Next up, Sean will be working on some special edition bags made out of car upholstery. If you’ve got some suggestions for colors, fabrics or car types you’d like to see included, go ahead and leave us a note here, or on our Facebook/Twitter. We love to hear your ideas!
Last weekend we hosted our first collaborative design event, the RE:CYCLE workshop. We had a great variety of people participating, and everybody had amazing ideas and concepts to share. We started with nothing but pencils, blank papers and quick introductions - and after a few hours we had two exciting bag concepts.
We’re working on the prototypes right now, using the sketches and notes we gathered over the course of the event. Once they’re finished, we’ll post them up here for everyone to have a look!
We’d like to thank Beau’s Beer for providing us with drinks for the party, and Claudia from Crudacafe, who brought some deliciously healthy raw food snacks.
On Saturday, July 11th, we’re hosting an exciting design workshop. This is the first event of it’s kind that we’ve ever attempted, and we’re really looking forward to seeing the results.
Workshop participants will work in groups to collaborate on a design for the perfect bike courier bag. They will be able to influence the form, function and features of the bag, as well as the recycled material out of which it will be made. We’ll be with them every step of the way to offer hints and advice. The result of the first session will be a detailed sketch with notes, material choices and everything we’ll need to sew a prototype of the bag.
The session will finish off with a party, to reward all of our participants’ hard work. But you don’t have to be a participant to attend - everyone is welcome to come out to the store to have some Beau’s beer and fresh food from Crudacafe. You’ll get to look at the finished sketches, give feedback and offer suggestions. It’s sure to be a fun evening, so we hope to see you there!
We still have plenty of spaces open for workshop participants, so if you’re interested in joining, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Hi guys, welcome to our new blog. Just wanted to kick things off by showing you some new signage we’ve made for the store. This should make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for, and learn a little about the other artists whose work we sell.
Here are some price labels to help organize our bags:
And here’s an example of the descriptions we’ve got written up for the artists. Shown in this photo are Dana De Kuyper’s ‘Damned Dollies’. Check out her site here: http://www.damneddollies.com/
